The Emerald Mile

Kevin Fedarko

Nonfiction 2013| 401 pages

two-hearts

One person on Goodreads marked this low for false advertising.  It claims to be “The epic story of the fastest ride in history through the heart of the Grand Canyon.”  It is not.  It is about the history of conservation and society on the Colorado River, and environmental challenges. Much was written in this book about John Wesley Powell and Don Garcia Lopez de Cardenas, providing significant historical context.   A very small portion of the book is about the epic journey.  I was sorely disappointed because I really loved the author Fedarko's A Walk in the Park.  But, I only perused The Emerald Mile until the journey actual begins, page 281 to the end.

The Emerald Mile does not come with my recommendation.
